Training and Support

TACHC Outreach and Enrollment staff provide ongoing training, technical assistance and support to health center Certified Application Counselors (CACs) and Your Texas Benefits (YTB) Navigators who assist individuals and their families to enroll in private and public health care insurance products.  Since Texans have two doors to apply for health care insurance – and – TACHC assists health center OE staff to meet training requirements for both, enabling them to help consumers apply through the door that works best for them.

Types of support that TACHC provides to health center OE staff include: 

  • Annual Outreach & Enrollment conference specifically tailored for OE staff
  • Quarterly webcast trainings on relevant and timely OE issues
  • Regional site visits to provide more one-on-one support and training
  • Listserv to foster the sharing of OE best practices and share solutions to problems identified while advising consumers about health care insurance options
  • Free access to the TACHC Online Reporting Tool designed to capture key data elements on OE activities for federal grant reporting, internal benchmarking, capacity building and evaluation
  • Resource development, such as outreach materials (posters, flyers, etc.), train-the-trainer modules on topics such as health insurance literacy and desktop resources to use with patients and consumers when helping them understand their benefits
