The upcoming Census 2020 required by the US Constitution every 10 years will drive many important decisions on issues ranging from economic investments in our local communities to representation in both state and federal governments. An accurate Census 2020 count means adequate funding for many relevant programs, including the health center program, Medicaid and CHIP as well as for many other assistance programs for affordable housing, early childhood and food insecurity. Texas could lose about $300 million each year from just a 1% undercount so the importance of the Census cannot be overstated. Join us on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 12:00PM – 1:00PM CST to learn about the challenges Texas faces in completing an accurate count, how your health center can get involved and resources available to help you reach your hard to count communities, many which lie in our health center service delivery areas.
