Workforce Development of Frontline Trusted MessengersREGISTRATION LINK HIGHLIGHTED BELOW The voice and role of health center community health workers (CHWs)/promotores, frontline staff, outreach & enrollment coordinators, and medical assistants within public health, the community, and in healthcare settings has always been as a trusted member with a close understanding of the community served. Recent reports have highlighted concerns regarding poor uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in groups and populations that have traditionally been underserved, including among healthcare workers in health centers. Educating communities on the COVID-19 vaccines’ safety and efficacy has emerged in the last year as one of the greatest challenges to address. We also recognize that vaccine misinformation is in circulation; therefore, this program has been developed to empower and support health center frontline staff, CHWs/promotores, outreach & enrollment coordinators, and medical assistants to readily provide factual truths in a balanced manner, as the trusted messengers in health centers. |

Health Care Inequities & Needs of the Transgender CommunitySensitivity towards patient self-described gender identity is vital to improving competent and affirming access to care, and informs trust-building relationships between providers and patients. Positive patient experiences improve health outcomes for members of gender-diverse communities. LGBTQ+ people are collectively considered to be a ‘priority population’ in discussions of health inequity. Under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, transgender and gender non-binary people experience the greatest burden of inequity. The health care inequities that affect this population are closely tied to sexual and social stigma. Therefore, appropriate use of language, awareness of experience, and the use of trauma-informed approaches are all part of providing the highest quality person-centered care. |
