Policy and Research Coordinator

As a Policy and Research Coordinator, Shelby monitors changes at the state and federal level that impact health center billing and reimbursement for Medicaid, CHIP, Family Planning and Medicare patients. Shelby works to educate and update health center staff on policy changes that affect these programs and the patients who depend on them. She also provides technical assistance to health center staff on billing and provider enrollment issues. Shelby also works on grant writing from various funding sources. From Nacogdoches, Texas, Shelby graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Journalism in 2004 and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in 2011. Prior to graduate school, Shelby served in the Peace Corps in Bolivia where she worked in a rural community on nutrition education, sustainable agriculture techniques, and small business development.
