Overview

The TACHC wide area network was initially funded through the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board. Between 1998 and 2003, TACHC received over eleven million dollars in TIFB funds. This funding was passed through to centers for the purchase of computers, network consulting, videoconferencing and telemedicine equipment. A portion of this funding was also utilized to provide broadband access to over one hundred sites across the state.

Today, TACHC provides internet access for over one hundred sites, free email for over eleven hundred center staff, and technical support for network issues. TACHC members frequently utilize video conferencing to hold meetings, and over 23 outstationed eligibility workers process Medicaid applications electronically by accessing the Department of Human Services servers over the TACHC wide Area Network.
