FACT SHEET
on Texas Community Health Centers
As part of the mission of the agency, TACHC engages in advocacy
efforts at the state and federal levels on behalf of safety
net providers and promotes public policy that expands access
to health care services and improves health care outcomes
for vulnerable populations and underserved communities throughout
the state. As part of these advocacy efforts, TACHC works
closely with other health care providers and children's health
and indigent health care advocacy groups.
A major priority for the Association has been to promote
the eligibility determination and retention of eligible populations
on Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program
as well as eliminate barriers to enrollment in these health
insurance programs. In addition to health insurance coverage
programs, TACHC also works to expand existing health care
services and establish new programs designed to increase access
for underserved Texans to preventative and primary care health
services. During the most recent legislative session, TACHC
was successful in securing funding for the Primary Health
Care Grant Program and the Federally Qualified Health Center
Incubator Program.
