Valley AIDS Council

Compassion, Education, Knowledge
Valley AIDS Council (VAC) is a private, nonprofit organization which provides primary outpatient health care and support services to HIV/AIDS patients living in Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties. Programs are funded through grants from the Texas Department of Health, the Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the Department of Health and Human Services as well as the United Way and the Levi Strauss Foundation. Patient eligibility is based upon documentation of an HIV diagnosis and residency in one of the counties above. VAC maintains service sites in Harlingen, McAllen, and Brownsville. HIV counseling and testing are provided at all three sites.

Volunteer Your Time
To become a VAC Volunteer, call the Volunteer Coordinator at (956) 668-1155 or (956) 428-2653 and have an application sent to you. Or stop by any one of our three locations and pick up an application. After receiving your completed application, we will set up an interview with you to discuss the areas in which you want to help. After completing a short volunteer training for your specific placement, you will be ready to start volunteering your time to VAC.
