Lone Star Circle of Care
Lone Star Circle of Care was designated a federally qualified
Community Health Center (CHC) in December 2004. To meet the
needs of a growing uninsured and underinsured population in
Williamson County, a Medically Underserved Area, the organization
created a model to fully leverage the benefits associated
with CHC status. This deliberate focus on maximizing CHC benefits
and diversifying stakeholders has resulted in the rapid creation
of new clinic locations and service lines. In just three years
as a CHC, Lone Star Circle of Care has opened 8 community
health clinics which directly provide comprehensive care that
includes: adult and pediatric primary care; dental care; adult
psychiatry and therapy; child & adolescent behavioral
health services provided by a psychologist and therapist;
comprehensive women’s health services, including labor
and delivery; discounted medications at in-house pharmacies;
chronic illness care, including diabetes and asthma; and health
and wellness education classes. LSCC is planning for future
expansions as the medically underserved populations continue
to increase in Williamson County and the surrounding areas.
Currently, one-third of Lone Star Circle of Care’s patients
are uninsured, while more than 60% are enrolled in Medicaid,
Medicare, or another form of public insurance.
