In June 1994, El Centro de Corazón
was founded by staff who had worked in the area for many
years, and in direct response to community requests, offering
early childhood services. In January 1995, El Centro de
Corazón began offering mental health services to
the community and started youth services for girls ages
9-17. In October 2003, El Centro de Corazón merged
with Eastwood Health Clinic in order to bring comprehensive
health services to the community. In December 2003, El Centro
de Corazón became a Federally Qualified Health Center,
only the second one in Houston.
The clinic provides primary care, pediatrics,dental
services, lab services, pharmacy, mental health services,
HIV/AIDS screening and counseling, immunizations and healthy
families early childhood.
