In March 2009, the Community Health Centers, formerly a department of the City of Austin, became CommUnityCare, a new not-for-profit 501(c) (3) corporation. As the Community Health Centers we delivered health care services in Austin and Travis County since 1970. We are proud of our past history of service to the community and look forward to continuing to provide great care. Our vision as CommUnityCare is to increase access to care and to expand our range of services.

CommUnityCare operates 18 health center locations offering comprehensive primary care services for the entire family including pediatrics, behavioral health services, and dental care.
Our medical offices are Federally Qualified Health Centers which means we have met strict guidelines established by the federal Bureau of Primary Health Care. We are proud to have earned this designation which allows us to offer a vital safety net to those who have trouble accessing basic primary care and preventative health services. Our Promise to Our Patients
The physicians and staff at CommUnityCare are committed to providing quality care in a friendly, caring and efficient environment. We believe all patients have a right to have their cultural, psychological, spiritual, and personal values, beliefs and preferences respected. We are committed to service excellence. This means our staff receives customer service training and we measure patient satisfaction on an ongoing basis.

We serve patients who are enrolled in the following health benefits programs: Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, and Travis County Medical Assistance Program (MAP). We also serve Travis County residents who do not qualify for any of these programs and pay for services according to a sliding discount, based on their income. To qualify for dental services, adult patients with Medicaid or Medicare must be a current patient of the CommUnityCare system. Services are provided regardless of the patient's ability to pay.

Individuals with Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP or MAP may contact a CommUnityCare site to make an appointment. Individuals who are not already covered by Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, or MAP must undergo financial screening to determine whether he or she is potentially eligible for any of the health benefits programs listed above. This screening is performed at Travis County Healthcare District Eligibility offices. Eligibility Staff will provide further instructions, such as which documents are required for the interview. CommUnityCare uses a team approach to provide comprehensive primary care services to our patients.  We believe your overall health and well-being depends on both your physical and mental health.  Our services include family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, women's services, HIV care, behavioral health services, dental care, nutrition counseling and clinical pharmacy services.  Our team of physicians, mid-level providers, Dentists, Pharmacists, Nutritionists, and Behavioral Health Professionals all work in partnership with our patients to achieve the best health outcomes possible.
